How it works:
Below is a basic summary of how our payment plans work and for further details, please see the FAQ section below.
A 15% deposit is required with your first installment at which point we begin building your website
The remaining balance is automatically processed in equal monthly installments
Upon website completion it is published online (on our servers) and you are given restricted access
Once full payment is complete we transfer the site to your own hosting & unrestricted access is enabled
The Fine Print
We offer this service as a courtesy to our customers but at the same time we do have to protect our own financial interests so naturally there are some conditions.
Until full payment is complete:
- Rivmedia retains ownership of the website
- The customer will be given access to the site but it will have restrictions
- Any updates required outside the scope of the customers role will have to be performed by Rivmedia (which is billable)
- If an installment payment fails and isn’t received within 30 days the website will be taken off-line until the debt is recovered
You will have some restrictions initially and have to pay additional fees, but this is offset by the benefits of this service.
Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find further details about our payment plans and you can find full terms and conditions here.
What payment methods do you accept?
For payment plans we only accept credit card payments (Visa & Mastercard) which is processed through Stripe
Which subscription term should I choose?
This is entirely up to you! We offer terms anywhere between 3 and 12 months so choose whatever fits in with your budget. We recommend choosing a schedule where you know you can comfortably make the repayments to be safe. Some other things to consider include:
- The service fee is applied to each installment, so the fewer installments you make, the less you will pay in service fees.
- Once a payment plan term has been agreed upon it cannot be altered, so please choose wisely
- Should you end up in a position where you can settle your remaining balance early you can, with no early payout fees!
Can I change my payment term?
Sorry no. Once a payment plan term has been agreed upon it cannot be altered, however, you can payout your remaining balance anytime.
How are the installments calculated?
Installments are calculated in equal monthly amounts less the deposit which is added to the initial payment. For example, a $2500 website on a 12 month payment plan will require installments of $177 per month, plus the service fee, and a deposit of $375 added to the initial payment.
The service fee is 1.5% of your total quoted price which is applied to each installment. So for the above example, this would be $37.5
We have created a sample payment plan here where you can compare prices & schedules to get an idea of how much the installments will be.
I'm making a substantial investment for my website. Is the service fee scalable?
Sorry no. As price goes up risk goes up so the service fee is a flat rate regardless of your website’s total price.
When am I charged the subscription payment?
All of our website payment plans are on a monthly billing schedule and the date the payment is processed is based on the day it is purchased. For example, if your payment plan is purchased on the 15th November, your next installment will be processed on the 15th December and so on.
What if my subscription payment fails?
Failed payments will be retried automatically 5 times over 7 days. If this is unsuccessful payment will need to be processed manually within 30 days (after previous installment) or the website will be taken off-line until the debt is recovered.
Can I payout early?
Yes! Should your circumstances change you can end the payment plan early with no early payout fees. Plus, in doing so you will end up saving money by reducing the number of service fees you would have paid.
Simply advise us before your next installment is due so we can adjust it accordingly with a final payout figure.
When do you start building my website?
We begin working on your website as soon as your initial installment and deposit is paid, just like we do for those who pay upfront.
When will my website be published?
Your website is published as soon as it is completed, regardless of the balance owing.
What access will I have to the website once it is published?
You will be given access to the site but it will be restricted to an “editor” role. This means you can access all of the content, but not the website’s themes, plugins, widgets or settings. In short, you can work with all of the content (pages, posts etc.), but cannot change any settings.
If e-commerce is installed on your site, you will also be given the role of “shop manager” so you can manage the e-commerce section of your website and your products and orders.
Will I be able to use email while the site is hosted by Rivmedia?
If you would like a dedicated email address (e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org) we are happy to set this up within our servers while your website is hosted with us so you don’t have to pay for website or email hosting during this period. All email accounts hosted by us though will be restricted to 250mb of storage space.
Once the site is transferred to your own hosting, your dedicated email accounts can be set up there also and you can determine your storage limits (if any)
What about updates and changes outside my restricted role?
Any edits, changes and updates required outside the scope of the restricted roles provided (editor and/or shop manager) will have to be performed by Rivmedia which is billable.
You can either pay for this on a pay-as-you-go basis or you might be interested in looking at our WordPress Maintenance Plans.
What happens when full payment is complete?
While you are still paying for your website, Rivmedia retains ownership and control therefore it will be published on our servers and your access will be restricted.
Once full payment is complete you will obtain full ownership, the site will be transferred to your own hosting & unrestricted access will be enabled.
What if I change my mind and no longer want the website?
This is an agreement like any other and you will still be obligated to pay for your website as you would were you paying for it upfront.
You can cancel your web design project with us however we will retain payment/s made and may require additional payment, whatever is required to compensate for all hours expended on the Project up to the date of termination at Rivmedia’s standard rates together with all other amounts due here under. Any initial payment that has been received shall be credited against any such amounts due. All indemnities shall continue even after any such termination.
