Compare our Website Maintenance Plans
Our options are completely flexible to suit your needs & budget; simply choose a billing cycle & maintenance plan and you’re all set! The following pricing is for our recurring plans. If you would like to purchase a maintenance package as a once-off you can do so for $95.
In short – updating & maintaining your website is important for functionality, security and performance:
WordPress is built on what is called open source technology where the source code used to create it is freely available for the public to view, edit, and redistribute. For this reason, regular updates are required in order to improve functionality, resolve any bug fixes and help to secure any vulnerabilities to possible hacking attempts.
Furthermore, your database (where all your sites information & settings are stored) can build up a collection of unneeded data over time such as post revisions, spam comments, trash, transient options, orphaned meta data, and so on. So maintaining & optimising your database means faster backups, easier restorations and improved speed & performance. Essentially its like giving your website a spring clean.
Of course you can, keep in mind though that on-going education and support is often required as this can be a steep learning curve for most, especially if this is your first WordPress website.
If you do invest in educating yourself in this area, have the time & discipline to carry out these tasks on a regular basis and have the skills necessary to restore your site should issues arise, then you may only need little or no support from us at all (go you!).
If you don’t feel confident that you are capable of the above, that’s where our maintenance plans come in handy. Knowing that your site is being professionally updated & maintained is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
With each new release of WordPress core and plugins, the developers fix bugs, patch security vulnerabilities and add new features. So not updating can be risky and the longer you leave it, the more you risk.
For optimal performance and security, I personally recommend monthly maintenance. This can be flexible depending on the complexity of your site, so when asked I use the following example:
If you clear out the lint filter in your clothes dryer before each load, you pretty much guarantee it won’t start a fire. However, you could go months without clearing it out and it still doesn’t start a fire…
Its the same with websites, I’ve seen many go for months or more without doing any updates and luckily they haven’t had any major issues.
Is that a risk you’re willing to take though?
Ask anyone who has had a website hacked (or their house burn down! 😬) and I guarantee they will tell you that regular maintenance is worth the investment.
The billing cycles:
The features for each plan are included within each billing cycle, so if you want more regular updates you would opt for a monthly cycle. Or if you are happy to leave your maintenance a bit longer you can opt for the bi-monthly or quartely cycles. The same applies for support & edits (premium & ultimate plans) and your requirements with that.
Should your needs change, these plans can be upgraded or downgraded at any time.
All work is paid for upfront; the standard tasks (updates, security scanning etc.) are performed within 1-4 business days after your subscription payment has been successfully processed.
If your package includes Website Edits and Support, these are performed at any time within the calendar month (after successful subscription payment).
Yes of course! Our maintenance plans are designed for a single site only but you can subscribe to as many of these packages as you need. As a nice perk we do offer multi-site discounts, just shoot us an email before checking out and we’ll hook you up with a discount code. (Please note, discount applies to recurring maintenance plans only)
Sorry, no. If you don’t use all of the available support and edits allocated in your package unfortunately they are forfeited, we won’t roll them over into the following month/s as its a logistical nightmare.
If you find you aren’t using up your available edits and support you can downgrade your plan at any time.
We accept Visa & Mastercard (processed through Stripe).
Payment Processing: The first payment will be processed upon checkout. The following payment dates are based on date of last payment and your chosen billing cycle.
For example, if a monthly subscription is purchased on the 1st of January, it will renew on the 1st of February, then the 1st March and so on. Should an automatic payment fail and isn’t successfully processed (via re-attempts or manually) for a few days (say 3rd of the month), then the next payment date is processed on the 3rd of the following month and so on.
We have no lock-in contracts so you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel your subscription plan at any time, just log in to your My Account area and within the “My Subscriptions” tab you can manage your subscription/s from there.
If you upgrade or downgrade your subscription plan, you will need to checkout again as you did the first time. Payment will be adjusted in the subsequent renewals on the 1st of the month according to your billing cycle. The inclusions for your plan will remain the same until your next renewal.
Cancellations: If you cancel before your subscription renews then your subscription will cease and no further work on your website will be carried out. If you cancel after your subscription has renewed you may be entitled to a partial refund (depending on how much work & support has been provided) which will be at the sole discretion of Rivmedia Pty Ltd.
Failed payments will be retried automatically 5 times over 7 days. At this point if your payment has still failed to process unfortunately your maintenance package will be cancelled and no further work will be performed.
This includes updating your WordPress core, plugins & theme/s when new releases become available as well as a compatibility check.
- We will only update plugins that are compatible with your installed version of WordPress
- We will only perform theme updates if a child theme in place
As mentioned we will do a compatibility check but it is your responsibility to inform us if you notice that your website is not working properly after updates are performed. Should this occur we will restore your website to how it was before the update (no extra charge).
If further work outside scope of your maintenance package is required this will be discussed and agreed to by both parties before any additional work is commenced.
Over time, your database (where all your sites information & settings are stored) can build up a collection of unneeded data such as post revisions, spam comments, trash, transient options, orphaned meta data, and so on. So maintaining & optimising your database means faster backups, easier restorations and improved speed & performance.
Essentially its like giving your website a spring clean.
We check your website for any malware and we make sure facilities are in place to reduce vulnerabilities & help prevent issues. Should we happen to find any issues, you will be notified immediately to discuss.
We ensure facilities are in place to automatically back-up your site on regularly intervals, giving you peace of mind that your site and content are fully protected. When performing maintenance and updates we will also do an additional manual back-up so its on hand should any issues arise during your scheduled maintenance.
In addition to your back-ups being stored on your server (or 3rd party storage option) we will also store back-up files on our personal storage hard drives.
Please note: Only the most recent back-up set will be stored on our personal hard drives; older ones will be deleted each time maintenance work is carried out. While all precautions are taken to safeguard these back-ups sets we do not guarantee their safety and therefore strongly urge all customers to also download and store them periodically.
Edit requests usually include things such as uploading new content, adding or changing menu items, editing settings, pages and blog posts etc. Tasks are generally for minor edits only; they exclude major design & functionality changes as this often requires much more time and is best to be quoted separately.
You can also use the available website edits & support time to request email support where we can respond to your questions, provide education and so on. Support questions are usually centred around how to use particular features, how to edit content within certain parts of your website and so on.
If you happen to exceed your allocated time allowance we also sell individual support tickets which you can use for the above.
We log all details of updates and changes we have made to your site within your billing cycle. This means you will have a complete history of all the work that has been completed for you.
When necessary we will also include optimisation suggestions for better performance.
