What is the $50 Plugin Set-up Fee?
A one time Plugin Set-up Fee is required for us to install and set-up the plugins needed to perform the maintenance work on your site. If your website was created by us or you have used our maintenance services before, this fee is not required.
If we did not build your website or this is your first time purchasing a maintenance package, you are required to include this when checking out. No work will be completed on your website unless this fee is covered.
Why do I need to maintain my site regularly?
Wordpress is built on what is called open source technology where the source code used to create it is freely available for the public to view, edit, and redistribute. For this reason, regular updates are required in order to improve functionality, resolve any bug fixes and help to secure any vulnerabilities to possible hacking attempts.
Furthermore, your database (where all your sites information & settings are stored) can build up a collection of unneeded data over time such as post revisions, spam comments, trash, transient options, orphaned meta data, and so on. So maintaining & optimising your database means faster backups, easier restorations and improved speed & performance. Essentially its like giving your website a spring clean.
In short – updating & maintaining your website is important for functionality, security and performance.
Can I do the updates & maintenance myself?
Of course you can, and if your website was built by us we include how to do this in your education session. We also make it very clear though that on-going education and support is often required as this can be a steep learning curve for most, especially if this is your first WordPress website.
If you do invest in educating yourself in this area, have the time & discipline to carry out these tasks on a regular basis and have the skills necessary to restore your site should issues arise, then you may only need little or no support from us at all (go you!).
If you don’t feel confident that you are capable of the above, that’s where our maintenance plans come in handy. Knowing that your site is being professionally updated & maintained is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
I have more than one website, can you still help me?
Yes of course! Our maintenance packages are designed for a single site only but you can subscribe to as many of these packages as you need. As a nice perk we do offer multi-site discounts, just shoot us an email before checking out and we’ll hook you up with a discount code.
What payment methods do you accept?
Visa & Mastercard (processed through Stripe) or Paypal.
What do the Software Updates involve?
This includes updating your WordPress core, plugins & theme/s when new releases become available as well as a compatibility check.
- We will only update plugins that are compatible with your installed version of WordPress
- We will only perform theme updates if a child theme in place
As mentioned we will do a compatibility check but it is your responsibility to inform us if you notice that your website is not working properly after updates are performed. Should this occur we will restore your website to how it was before the update (no extra charge).
If further work outside scope of your maintenance package is required this will be discussed and agreed to by both parties before any additional work is commenced.
What is Database Optimisation?
Over time, your database (where all your sites information & settings are stored) can build up a collection of unneeded data such as post revisions, spam comments, trash, transient options, orphaned meta data, and so on. So maintaining & optimising your database means faster backups, easier restorations and improved speed & performance.
Essentially its like giving your website a spring clean.
What is Security & Malware Scanning?
We check your website for any malware and we make sure facilities are in place to reduce vulnerabilities & help prevent issues. Should we happen to find any issues, you will be notified immediately to discuss.
What is involved with the Full Website Backup?
We ensure facilities are in place to automatically back-up your site on regularly intervals, giving you peace of mind that your site and content are fully protected. When performing maintenance and updates we will also do an additional manual back-up so its on hand should any issues arise during your scheduled maintenance.
In addition to your back-ups being stored on your server (or 3rd party storage option) we will also store back-up files on our personal storage hard drives.
Please note: Only the most recent back-up set will be stored on our personal hard drives; older ones will be deleted each time maintenance work is carried out. While all precautions are taken to safeguard these back-ups sets we do not guarantee their safety and therefore strongly urge all customers to also download and store them periodically.
What is the Basic Activity Report?
We log all details of updates and changes we have made to your site. This means you will have a complete history of all the work that has been completed for you.
